Island Hunting
I was recently in the Abacos sailing with my Great Uncle around the beginning of Feb. He keeps his sailboat in Hope town Harbor, Elbow Cay. Well anyway, while down to visit him I was told that my Grandfather, his brother apparently owns part of an Island in the Bahamas. He purchased this Island with 4 other Gentlemen back in the mid 1960's. I was curious if anyone knew how I could go about to search for the deeds, or ownership of islands. I would think it should be public record to list who owns each island. However I don"t know where to start. I did some online searching and was thinking a good place to start would be the Registrar Generals Office in Nassau, Bahamas. But seeing as how there are around 700 islands in the Bahamas, I have the task of finding a needle in a haystack. Any help would be much obliged!
Thanks,
Gregg
