Default What is the weather like in Mid May ?

    Hi,

I'm currently planning my honeymoon to the Sandals Royal Bahamian resort for next May and I just wanted to know what the weather is like at that time of year.

Is it warm and can I expect much rain or will I get to see some of the infamous blue sky and white fluffy clouds I have heard so much about.

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

    Andy

Thanks for the reply. Really can't wait to go there next year, just hope that I can manage to scrape all the pennies together first.

    Cheers

I recommend you to travel a bit ealier if you can.

The Bahamas travel industry recommend to visit their islands also when the sun is "hot hot hot". Keep in mind that May till August are the hottest and wettest months of the year in the Bahamas and is the beginning of hurricane season. I recommend you vacation in the Bahamas before end of May and after the hurricane season which ends in September/October. In some years the hurricane can effect the Bahamas even in November.

Tourists do not care wheather there are palm trees at the beach or sun umbrellas which would not cover the whole body anyhow. They hardly wear wide brimmed hats and sunglasses. And they see them in the sun between 10am and 4pm, when the sun is hottest. Be careful during the summer months when the temperature can reach 110 F or even more. The feeling temperature can be higher because it is an index which combines the effects of temperature, wind, huminity, sunshine intensity, pressure, and elevation on the human body.

Doctors will tell you that excess exposure to the sun produce dry skin which means premature wrnikles, premature aging and high risk for chronic sun damage which leaves you susceptible to shin cancer. If you have darker skin pigmentation you should know that you are the an who need the most sunsreen. Do not make the mistake to use fade creams, which will damage your skin even more in warmer temperatures, as such creams stripe the skin and leave it vulnerable to skin cancer.

Do not wash you face constantly throughout the day because the glands produce oils to PROTECT the skin. Use moisturisers - if you have oily skin use one with less oil or one thais oil free. Drink more botteles water and consume more Vitamin C in the natural way. Eat more oranges, papaya, gree pepper, broccoli.....this helps to kill free radicals that cause premature aging and breakouts.
