Default We are thinking about moving to the Nassau and had a few ??

Hi everyone... My hubby and I are currently living in California and hubbies company does the security system work on the Atlantis... His company would like for us to move down there for two years while they do phase 3 of Atlantis... I would like to come but I dont really know that much about the area and am having a hard time finding out any info on moving to the Bahamas... My first and biggest concern is that we havea baby... He is currently almost 6 months old... By the time we are set to move down if we do he will be a little over a year old... SO I would like to find out about drs and hospitals there... Are the immunizations the same there as here in the US etc .... Is it a good place to raise a baby is there any concerns that I should be aware of with regards to having a toddler on the island... I've heard that it is really expensive to live there... Are there like grocery stores that aren't in th tourist areas that aren't to expensive... Is there a lot of wxtended rentals available that any of you are aware of... I found a lot of vacation rentals but thats about it... Thanks for any help you can offer to me it is all greatly appreciated!!

    Default Moving to Nassau

    Hi there,

The Bahamas is a great place to live. It is expensive,
but if you live in California, you're used to it. It's not
more expensive than there, I don't think. A lot of
people do some shopping in Florida, which is just a hop
skip and jump away (35 minutes on a jet and sometimes
    under $200).

We have a government hospital as well as a few
private ones. The private ones are more comfortable
and more accessible. The most highly trafficed one is
Doctors' Hospital. They're very good. I think
immunization is the same as most countries in this
    region.

The area you live and shop do make a big difference.
Paradise Island, for instance, is not the place to
shop for groceries--or anything perhaps. Going over
to the city is easy and makes much more sense.
Nassau is only 7 x 21 miles, so everything is close.

As far as rentals, you'd probably be best off renting
a condo, home or apartment. A good realtor could
help you with that. If you have any questions, feel
free to email me at lb1176@hotmail.com.

    All the best!
