1st time to the Bahamas! Where should we stay??

My husband and I are going to Nassau/Paradise Island June '04 for your 10 year anniversary. We are royally confused on where we should stay. Here are our interest: Relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, shopping and checking out the local culture. We were interested in the Atlantis, but we feel that it will be too crazy there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated!!

I stayed at Breezed on Nassau with my Fiance in July of 03. We loved it and wouldn't have asked for anything more. The prices were reasonable, the food delicious, the rooms were speacious, and the hotel staff was more then accomadating. Great Hotel!

You need to further determine what type of vacation you want. If you want brass glass and people, stay in any of the nice places in Nassau. If you want remote tropical island living on miles of empty beaches, go to Long Island's Chez Pierre's place. His meals are five star, but the cottages on top of the beach are romantic island type. They have a page at www.chezpierrebahamas.com My wife and I have stayed there three times and will be going back down this fall. Its total relaxation, etc. plus the islanders are very friendly, with a no hurry mahn, outlook and expect you to wave at every car you meet on the highway. Curt
