Planning as a US citizen to go to The Bahamas and work as contractor with the aid or partnership with a local Bahamian citizen, what kind of rights do we have?. We hear all kind of things about this country civil rights and potentialability of a fraud once the business will be established for Bahamian partner to take over all company assets and send us back home with a penny in our pocket blocking immigration entry into the country.
We are learning that this is no protection for US citizen investors and business men in that country. The local goverment & law firms do not offer any kind of aid to protect US citizen assets and civil human rights.
However, if we go to any Bahamian internet adverstisment luring US investors to invest and promote business in the islands they do not prevent you of any kind of risk to loose 100% of your investment to a local national partner.
We think this a great country but we are afraid that local laws are one sided to only protect local nationals. The risk and possiblity to abuse a US citizen acting in a good faith investing in this country and training nationals the business trade it can be very high. We would like to think that there is no jeolousy from locals to foreigns to come and want to help the country to develop.
Please, advise, we have seen and learn of some of these problems thru the US media that we would like to know in what terms would be safe to come to Bahamas and do business as a specialist contractor.
